The Arizona Capitol Railroad will close Saturday, March 23, 2024. However, that is not the end of the story. The Arizona Railroad Historical Society (ARHS) has acquired a space in the City of Tempe. That space will house a new layout and a museum of railroad memorabilia and railroad artifacts. Though the venue maybe new, our mission remains constant... Arizona railroads were significant contributors to the growth and development of the state of Arizona and the new layout and museum will continue the ARHS mission of promoting and displaying those railroad's development using state of the art technology and artistic excellence.
Keep this website bookmarked! We need community support to execute our development plan and this website will be the link between ourselves and that community. Stay tuned... The Grand Canyon will be back! (And so will Phoenix, Prescott, Yuma, Tucson, Williams, Ashfork, etc.). The message of the original mission statement written in May of 2018 holds true:
The purpose of the ARHS (a 501(c)3 organization) is to promote and preserve Arizona heritage, describe and display the history of Arizona railroading and educate current and future generations about Arizona history and the railroads that serve the state.
The ARHS supports and promotes the National Model Railroad Association (also a 501(c)3 organization) by being a 100% NMRA organization and by actively pursuing the status of Master Model Railroader for any who wish to achieve it.
We are honored and more than excited by the opportunity to create a world class railroad experience.

And remember... It's a great day to build a railroad!
